IRIDYA

Integrated Reconstruction of Ice sheet DYnamics during late quaternary Arctic climatic transitions

IRIDYA is a PRA project that will study the environmental and climatic effect of prominent meltwater events characterizing glacial terminations as the most evident response of the ice sheet to climate warming. IRIDYA will combine geophysical, sedimentological, geochemical, and micropaleontological investigation of the data acquired offshore Svalbard during the RV Laura Bassi Arctic expedition 2021, and numerical ice sheet simulations to provide a dynamical framework for the reconstruction of the western margin of Svalbard during short-term, prominent climatic oscillation (i.e. meltwater pulses) occurred during the last 60 ka.
