Ph.D. in Coastal Oceanography in the Instituto de Investigaciones Oceanológicas (IIO), Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), Ensenada, Baja California, México, with thesis: “Biogeochemical modeling in a coastal lagoon". Date: 2004-2008.
MSc in Coastal Oceanography in the Instituto de Investigaciones Oceanológicas (IIO), Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), Ensenada, B.C., México, with the thesis: "Dissolved organic carbon in San Quintin Bay, Baja California”. Date: 2001-2004.
I have experience in biogeochemical oceanography, in general, and in particular in nutrient cycling, dissolved organic matter and microbial ecology. During my PhD I working in a multi-institutional project, in which I had opportunity to collaborate with various investigators on the different institutes. My investigation includes the analysis and use of biogeochemical-physical coupled models for the study of the nutrient cycles, of the study of the answer of the ecosystem to anthropogenic change and the environmental forcing, as well as the sensitivity analysis. The results of the thesis have implication in concrete aspects (mainly in the lagoon of San Quintin Bay, i.e. aquaculture, carrying capacity of nutrients), as well as in theoretical aspects (i.e. development of a model for the study of macroalgae and the seagrases). Furthermore I have an experience in data collection and analysis in the laboratory. I use diferents instruments: ECOLAB (in situ analyzer of inorganic nutrients), TOC 5000 Shimadzu (Total organic carbon), segmented flow autoanalyze nutrients, gas and liquid chromatography (GC and HPLC) and Data Flow II system.
